Some Day We'll Have Sunflowers

When I garden I am working hard.  I am deep in nutritious soil and goodness.  I feel my most alert while my body drops everything it's been negatively exposed to...I exist in a rhythmic pulse.

There is also humour.

I have been trying to grow flowers from seed and have had mishaps: over watering or planting too far in the soil.  But this time it wasn't me...just look at these never to be Sunflowers...

A culprit is afoot - we think it Rabbit!!

Mindful Eating Prayer

Gardening, and juicing fruits and vegetables has really made me focus on what I eat but also where food comes from.  Here is my food prayer for today, followed by some pictures of my garden's delightes:

Spirit, I ask that you remove any pain or negativity from this food, the preparation and serving.  I ask that you instead replace it with light, love, compassion, healing energy and blessing.  That once I introduce it with intention to my body, let it enter, remain and depart with your upmost highest good.  I am greatful for this meal on this day which you have provided.  Thank you.

Juice, Juice, And, Some Farming

I've started a 30 day juicing intensive; I'm both excited and nervous.  I guess nervous because I'm not sure how my body will react.  But I should be o.k. as I will not be fasting...it's not one of those juicing intensives.  But excited because I get to feel healthier, and I get the bonus of using the pulp for either compost or baked goods.  Yay!  So my first intention is to juice every day; my second is to commit to watching my lessons every day.  I will post major moments as I go along, and also photos of whatever goodies I bake.

I'll also be posting pics of my new garden -- constructed with my very hands...and of course my fiance's.  We built an 8' x 6' vegetable garden, I chose an evergreen color for the raised bed.  For our first run we planted: tomatoes, green peppers, chocolate peppers, onions, green beans, a combination of lettuces, and pumpkins (both mini and large).  And one corner was dedicated to herbs: curly parsley, chives, rosemary and basil.  To have some extra herbs for juicing, I decided to plant in a terracotta pot some American parsley, mint, thyme and purple basil.  It's all very exciting as this is my first go at doing some "farming"...let's see if I have my mother's green thumb...I tell you one thing, like her, I love the feel of earth in my hands.

Tomorrow morning I'll be making the below juice, feel free to give it a try:

Pineapple-Kale
6-8 stalks of kale
1/2 large cucumber
1/2 bunch parsley (or cilantro)
1/4 to 1/3 pineapple
1 medium apple (either yellow or green)
